By Cindion Huang ’24I like to gaze out the car window As the vehicle carries me and my everlasting, wandering thoughts to utopia -- Where untethered streams of consciousness
spread their wings and fly free -- Beyond the bright rivulets of headlights, The soft, amber glow of streets lamps, The dark silhouettes of distant skyscrapers, And the neon signs of landmarks filled with childhood memories; To a place with powerful, defining silence; A place where lost thoughts can be found -- A place where I can forget That all beings are an evanescent mark in the universe, Destined to vanish someday. We can never determine How valuable a moment is, Until it becomes nothing more Than a distant yet precious memory -- stored away, Slowly disappearing like morning mist in sunlight. To think is to live, I thought, And to live -- is to never stop thinking.
