This past winter, both the Girls Varsity Squash (GVS) and Boys Varsity Squash (BVS) teams competed in their two annual tournaments: Squash Nationals in Philadelphia, PA, and New Englands (hosted at nearby prep schools). For Nationals weekend, the two teams take buses to hotels for the weekend, compete in matches, explore Philadelphia, and share many meals, which all help create a closer bond within the teams. This year, GVS competed in Division C, fighting hard to maintain a top spot despite having missing players at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. BVS competed in Division E at a separate location. Both Natasha Johnson ‘27 and William Jones ‘28 went undefeated during Nationals, winning in all possible outcomes of playing three sets, four sets, or five sets. Sophia Wen ‘29 had nail-biting matches where she pushed herself for her team. Not only did she do this at Nationals, but also the following weekend, where GVS competed in New Englands, hosted at Portsmouth Abbey in Rhode Island. The Boys’ New England Tournament was hosted right here on the Hill, where they were easily supported by their community. Sixth Formers Chase Hager ‘26, Elle Wilson ‘26, and Emily Fonner ‘26 played their last Westminster squash matches at New Englands, which concluded with winning second place! After serving four years of dedication and hard work, Long (James) Teng '26 concluded his last season with a clean 3-0 match against the Brooks School.
